The Kulturbetrieb is set up as an affiliate company of the city of Arnstadt, operating independently as a communal own establishment. All of the Arnstadt's cultural facilities such as the City and County Library, the Bach exhibition, the Schlossmuseum, the local zoo (Tierpark Fasanerie) and the theater in the Schlossgarten are integrated, subsidized or run by the Kulturbetrieb.
Staff members at the library, the Bach exhibition, the Schlossmuseum, the zoo and the Administration for Cultural Affairs are directly employed by the Kulturbetrieb. The "Theater im Schlossgarten" is run by the Theaterverein Arnstadt e.V. (theater society of Arnstadt).
The different facilities of the Kulturbetrieb exclusively serve the public interest. We purpose to encourage our citizens and the guests of the city of Arnstadt to get culturally involved as we support, develop and encourage cultural life, cultural facilities, leisure time and recreational offers. We, furthermore, play a part in the protection, safeguarding and promotion of cultural assets. The articles of the company govern the various possibilities of engaging in the different facilities.

The Administration of the Kulturbetrieb is concerned with fostering traditions and homeland. Following this mission, the Administration cooperates with various societies of the city to launch or conjointly advance cultural events.
Examples of this cooperation are the Bach-Festival-Arnstadt serving as the opening act of the Thuringian concert season, the traditional raising of the May pole as well as the festivity at the local zoo (Tierpark Fasanerie).
The Administration also functions as the collection point for the accounting transactions of the various cultural institutions of the city of Arnstadt.

Part of the wide array of responsibilities of the Administration for Cultural Affairs of the Kulturbetrieb is the fosterage of homeland and tradition as well as the development and promotion of cultural life.
Together with the different societies of the city, the Kulturbetrieb supports a wide variety of cultural events or initiates events such as the Bach-Festival-Arnstadt, the raising of the May pole or the zoo festivity (Tierpark Fasanerie).
